Achiever Medical LIMS proud award winners of prestigious West Midlands Medilink Healthcare and Business ‘Innovation’ award 2019

We’re absolutely thrilled to announce that our Achiever Medical laboratory information management system (LIMS) has been awarded Medilink’s West Midlands Medical and Healthcare Business ‘Innovation’ Award 2019.

Congratulations to all finalists and a huge thank you to the Medilink West Midlands team for hosting a fantastic event. It was a privilege to be part of the event and in the company of the many talented medical, life sciences and healthcare businesses in the region.

‘We’re absolutely delighted that Achiever Medical laboratory information management system has been awarded Medilink’s West Midlands Medical and Healthcare Business ‘Innovation’ Award 2019. This award is a strong recognition of our achievements in creating software to support collaboration between Biobanks and researchers and our partnership with the UKCRC Tissue Directory.’

Achiever Medical LIMS supporting Biobanks and labs to ‘make every sample matter’

One of the primary goals of a Biobank is to help further research outcomes. However, it’s impossible to do this if no one is using its samples. Each day tissue samples are sitting in storage it’s costing Biobanks money. Also, more importantly, the viability of these samples is being compromised.

Instead of being a potential research goldmine, samples in tissue banks could be losing value. This is certainly not what donors had in mind for their generously donated tissues.

As part of our ‘Every Sample Matters’ vision we aim to deliver software systems that support collaboration, help improve research outcomes and provide secure access to quality data.

Award-winning Achiever Medical LIMS dynamic transformation tool to send data to UKCRC Tissue Directory

Our award-winning Achiever Medical LIMS’s is a complete sample tracking and lab information management system that makes it easier for Biobanks to leverage the UKCRC’s online Tissue Directory (UKCRCTD) to publicise their sample tissue holdings data to researchers.

The UKCRC Tissue Directory is a web-based portal where researchers can source tissue samples from providers across the UK. The UKCRC Tissue Directory solution seeks to address the gap between the demand and provision for high quality research tissue with supporting data.

Achiever Medical LIMS connects to the online UKCRC’s Tissue Directory to send selected tissue sample holdings data securely and regularly. Every Biobank has its own way of working which is often outlined within Standard Operating Procedures. It also has its own way of categorising and classifying tissue samples. Biobanks don’t want to have to change these to fit with the data standards and formatting rules required. Or, alternatively, spend hours fiddling with data to get it into the right format every time it’s to be uploaded.

That’s why we created our dynamic, award-winning transformation tool in Achiever Medical LIMS. Our dynamic tool transforms both data values and column names. So, Biobanks don’t have to spend days reworking processes and retraining teams.  What’s more, Biobanks just set these translations up once and the system does the rest automatically.

The combined solution of Achiever Medical LIMS with its link to the UKCRC Tissue Directory helps researchers to source quality samples and supports Biobanks to make sure their precious tissue samples are used for their intended purpose – to further research.
